Research Development
The Office of Research Development oversees resources and sets research priorities for the School of Medicine.
Announcement
on pending reviews will be reported from the Dean's Office via email to
Department Chairs and Senate Directors well before the deadline
application.
Committees under the auspices of the Office or Research Development include:
- Across
the Finish Line (AFL) Funding are designed to help both junior faculty and
established faculty moving into a new area of investigation. Funds will be used
to generate pilot data that can be leveraged into a new R01-type grant
submission (or re-submission).
- Bridge Funding Committee provides one-time support to principal investigators who have lost major grant support and who will re-apply for funding.
- SIRC Funding reviews proposals for funding with the Dean's Academic Enrichment Fund.
- NIH Gap Funding Program provides temporary support for investigators that qualify. Funding will be awarded to support NIH-sponsored programs that have undergone peer review and have received fundable priority scores (based on clearly exceeding the historic institute paylines [usually by half] or by written confirmation from NIH) and when funding is delayed by NIH. Internal funding will be time limited (up to 6 months) in order to compensate for delays in federal approval and the release of funds.
- Clinical Translational Research Advisory Committee (CTRAC) responds to strategic needs for clinical and translational research in the School of Medicine. It also serves as the Internal Advisory Committee for CCTSI.
- Research Advisory Committee (RAC) examines new developments within the School of Medicine, recommends strategic areas that merit investment and otherwise conducts ongoing strategic planning.
These four committees serve as advisory to the Dean. The RAC and CTRAC are also advisory to the Vice Chancellor for Research.
