Administrative Fellowship Program

The University of 麻豆传媒高清 School of Medicine (CU SOM) Administrative Fellowship is a 12- month paid full-time position with benefits, designed to prepare post-graduate training for administrative leadership roles in academic medicine. Fellows will receive comprehensive exposure to the management of a highly ranked academic medical center. Working with senior leaders in the School of Medicine, Fellows will observe and participate in decision-making on complex issues involving teaching, research, clinical care, and a commitment to community and health equity.

2023-2024 was the inaugural year of the CU SOM Administrative Fellowship Program at the University of 麻豆传媒高清 Anschutz Medical Campus. Campus leaders and staff are excited to continue supporting the program and development of each new class of administrative fellows.

Fellowship Structure

Fellowship Preceptor

Fellows will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Administration and Finance, the Program Preceptor. The Preceptor will coordinate and structure the learning process and provide appropriate resources to the Fellow.

In addition to attending senior leadership meetings in the School of Medicine with the Preceptor, Fellows will complete 3-4 projects during the year in various areas including but not limited to:

  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Faculty Affairs
  • Department led projects
  • Faculty practice management (community practice operations, revenue cycle, business development)
  • Research Administration (Office of Grants and Contracts)
  • 麻豆传媒高清 Administration (Graduate and Undergraduate Medical 麻豆传媒高清)
  • Information Technology Services

The Fellowship will conclude with a capstone presentation of project work and deliverables.

Program Components

  • Orientation – Fellows will participate in a structured two week orientation and onboarding including informational interviews and meet & greets with senior leaders. They will also participate in numerous crash courses on key subject areas important to any school leader.
  • Leadership Meetings – Fellows will meet on a regular basis with senior leadership across the school and faculty practice plan. They will also join recurring leadership meetings for the school and within departments, institutes or centers.
  • Professional Development – The fellowship program offers flexibility in the opportunities such as attendance to a national meeting, leadership training alongside departmental administrators, or formal process improvement/quality training. Fellows will also receive mentorship and coaching from the Program Preceptor, Program Managers, and Project Owners.
  • Assigned Projects – Fellows will be assigned approximately 3-5 projects at any given time across a variety of teams to ensure wide exposure to all aspects of school of medicine leadership.
  • Evaluation – Fellows will receive informal feedback on an ongoing basis. They will also have quarterly feedback and check-in sessions with program leaders and will receive one official evaluation by the Preceptor.
