Psychiatry Residency

Residents entering psychiatry training now join an exciting, rapidly evolving field.  Our department and its training programs build on a deep tradition in psychotherapy, cultural awareness, and community engagement that have always been part of psychiatry’s foundation, while at the same incorporating evolving developments in molecular, neuronal, and genetic aspects of brain function. The faculty of the Department of Psychiatry are dedicated to training you, bringing the latest scientific evidence, clinical models, and technology to understand and treat mental illnesses. Faculty who lead nationally known programs in substance abuse, women’s health, neuropsychiatry, neuro-imaging, molecular genetics, psychopharmacology, refugee mental health, LGBTQ mental health, infant and early childhood development, integrated care, forensics, tele-psychiatry, psychoanalysis, and mood disorders are integrated into residents’ clinical rotations and scholarly experiences.  This rich tapestry of experiences and expertise helps trainees identify and explore their passions.

Our unique program offers diverse clinical experiences at University of Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Hospital, Denver Health Medical Center, the Denver Veterans Administration Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå, and other training settings throughout our community.  Intensive teaching in clinical settings is complemented by formal conferences, individual supervision, and research and scholarly activities, offering residents full access to the faculty's expertise and mentorship.
