We must always strive to be at the forefront of health and wellness, both in the work we do and in the culture we create for our department. Here in the Department of Psychiatry, we support wellness across the department by having leadership for both Faculty and Staff Wellness Officers.
Our wellness efforts are guided by the and the and we work in conjunction with CU Thrive Office for the Faculty Experience. We recognize that wellness is about the systemic factors that contribute to increased professional fulfillment and the factors that drive burnout in addition to the self-care and personal resilience tools that we know are necessary, but not sufficient.
Our primary goal in the Wellness Office is to check in regularly and ask, “how do we make things a little better around here?” by assessing and identifying the drivers of burnout, identifying improvements, and measuring outcomes.
In addition to finding ways to improve stressors, we strive to support DoPsych employees in finding their “North Star” – finding meaning and fulfillment in at least of the work they do to buffer the everyday challenges we all face.
