Wilderness Medicine Fellowship

This fellowship is designed to blend formal didactic education, wilderness research, expedition experience, and diverse teaching opportunities. The fellowship is hosted by the University of Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Section of Wilderness and Environmental Medicine.  We offer a 6-week (summer) expedition medic deployment to Greenland to support the National Science Foundation's Summit Station. During the rest of the year, fellows will enjoy multiple opportunities to teach, master technical rescue skills, and complete a research project within the field of wilderness medicine. Fellows will be eligible to receive a Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) and to receive advanced training in dive medicine at NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston.  Additionally, wilderness fellows are expected to assist in the care of patients through UCHealth's Travel, Expedition and Altitude Medicine (TEAM) clinic.

This fellowship is one or two years in length depending on an optional advanced degree (e.g. MPH). Candidates must be American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) certified or board-eligible. Non-clinical fellows from specialties different from emergency medicine, such candidates are responsible for alternative clinical funding, are also accepted.
