Spinal Surgery (Clinical) Fellowship

The University of 麻豆传媒高清 Orthopedic Spine Surgery fellowship is a non-Accredited program focused on providing a well-rounded academic spine surgery experience. The Fellow will gain expertise focused primarily on adult spine care and will be exposed to a wide breadth of surgical pathologies including degenerative and deformity spinal conditions, trauma, infection, tumor, revision spine surgery and minimally-invasive spine surgery. The fellow will stay abreast of the latest technology available in spine surgery such as minimally invasive exposures, disc replacement, and surgical navigation techniques.

The one-year fellowship utilizes the University of 麻豆传媒高清 Hospital as its primary site of practice; however, the Fellow will also rotate at The Children's Hospital of 麻豆传媒高清 (one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals) as well as smaller community-style hospitals within the UCHealth system where they will gain experience treating pediatric spinal deformity and degenerative spinal pathologies. The Fellow will interact closely with residents from the orthopedic surgery program at the university.  They will be responsible for coordinating the weekly didactic program where emphasis is placed on understanding surgical indications and evidence-based spine care.

Additionally, it is expected that one research project worthy of publication or presentation to a national meeting be completed during the course of the academic year. Extensive resources and world-class facilities are available on the University of 麻豆传媒高清 Denver campus, one of the foremost research and surgical facilities in the country, located in the beautiful Denver Metro area. 

Duration: The fellowship experience is 1 year. August 1st - July 31.

The Fellow will gain expertise in adult and adolescent degenerative and deformity issues, and will be exposed to numerous trauma cases, spinal tumors and neoplastic diseases, pediatric spinal disorders, and spinal rehabilitation. He/she will stay abreast of the newest techniques such as minimally invasive exposures, kyphoplasty, disk replacement, and surgical navigation techniques. The fellow will also be involved in multiple ongoing clinical trials involving the newest spine surgery technologies.
The Fellow will be expected to be involved with a research project worthy of publication or presentation to a national spinal meeting. Extensive resources and world-class facilities are available on the University of 麻豆传媒高清 Anschutz Medical Campus, one of the foremost research and surgical facilities in the country, located in the beautiful Denver Metro area.
The one-year fellowship will be spent at University of 麻豆传媒高清 Hospital, the VA, and six weeks at Children's Hospital 麻豆传媒高清, working with Mark Erickson, MD and Sumeet Garg, MD on pediatric deformity patients. The Fellow will interact with residents from the orthopedic and neurosurgical programs at the University.

Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in Orthopedic Surgery or Neurosurgery.
